Official World Golf Rankings
The Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) orders the world's best professional golfers. Rankings updated weekly based on tournament performance.
ⓘ How Rankings Work
- Points by finish & field strength — Points are awarded based on your finishing position and the quality of the field in each event. A win at a weaker event earns fewer points than a win at a major.
- Points decay over 104 weeks — All ranking points are averaged over a rolling two-year window. Older results gradually carry less weight, ensuring rankings reflect current form.
- Major events carry highest weight — The four majors and select elite events award the most ranking points. Winning a major can dramatically move a player up the rankings.

FedEx Cup Standings
The FedEx Cup is the PGA Tour's season-long points race, culminating in the FedEx Cup Playoffs in August. Points are accumulated across the season with a points reset before the final three playoff events — the St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship, and TOUR Championship at East Lake.
The FedEx Cup champion earns a $25 million bonus and the title of PGA Tour's season champion. The points system rewards consistency throughout the year but gives every player in the playoffs a chance to win the title in the final event.
Race to Dubai
The DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) has its own season-long ranking called the Race to Dubai. Points are awarded across all DP World Tour events played globally throughout the season.
The Race to Dubai champion is crowned at the DP World Tour Championship, held annually in Dubai in November. Notable Race to Dubai champions include Rory McIlroy (four times), Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, and Shane Lowry.
About the Official World Golf Ranking
The Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) was introduced in 1986 and is the universally recognised ranking system for professional men's golf. It is jointly managed by the four major championship governing bodies — Augusta National Golf Club, the PGA of America, the USGA, and The R&A — along with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
Rankings are calculated by averaging ranking points across all eligible tournaments played over a rolling two-year period. The number of points available at each event is determined by the strength of the field, with the four major championships and elite invitationals carrying the highest weighting.
A minimum of 40 events must be played to qualify for a ranking. Players who are inactive for an extended period will see their ranking fall as their points decay. The OWGR is updated every Monday to reflect the prior week's tournament results.
World rankings are used to determine eligibility for major championships, the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup, and the Olympic Games. For the official live ranking visit owgr.com.
